When a juvenile commits an offense, he might be arrested to be detained or taken into custody by the police. Generally the detainment is temporary and the parents and guardians are notified. In case there are none of the, or the police has good reason to believe that the juvenile will not appear at the court hearing, he might be kept in detention ("Juvenile Court - Detention and Custody", 2018). Temporary detention can also happen until the time the parent or guardian reach the detention center, police station or the sheriff’s headquarters.
